Why buy when you can make?
A box mix is .99 to 1.99, plus eggs and oil or milk. (But if .99 and you have a coupon, it can be cheaper to buy)
Most expensive part is the frosting...the price of butter these days
You may actually have all the ingredients for a completely homemade cake. Do what is best for you.
I am not a great decorator, but simple ideas work out great.
Butter cream frosting. Added cocoa powder to some of it, thinned it with milk and made the drip part.
Looks ok, tastes great
