Thanksgiving leftovers

 We all love the leftovers.

This year I got the carcass.  Yep the bones and stuff.

My family knows me so well.

So today is turkey stock.

Plus I throw in all the leftovers veggies, or veggie scraps.

I also sauté carrots, onion, garlic to put in the actual soup

FB Marketplace

I am a big fan of thrifting, reusing, buying used.

I may (or may not) have a lot of yarn now and need to way to store it.

I got this idea after buying one for my college bound son.

I found closet hanging organizers on FaceBook Marketplace.  I thought I only need 2

The seller wanted to get rid of all of them.  So 4 organizers for $5.00.  Win

Wedding Gift

Now a days it is all about the registry.

But I decided to make an afghan for the young couple.  They love to watch movies at home.

Bought yarn on sale and stacked with a coupon.

A couple months later....gift.   It is heavy like a weighted blanket and I am told the couple loves it.

Was it super cheap, no. But it is high quality and paid the least amount possible plus my time.  I still think it is a good price for wedding gift

Forgotten apples

I put a bag of apples in the crisper drawer of the fridge

The forgot about them

They were wrinkled

BUT, I made apple crisp and saved them from being thrown out.

I saved the peels and made apple jelly

Online Wine

 Online wine...Is it worth it?

The price was great.   15 bottles

6.33 per bottle including shipping

Variety

BUT not worth it for me because I did not care for most of the wines.

However, I had a friend that can use the empty bottles and the box,  so at least it is not going to waste

Frugal Family

Son wanted Pizza for dinner

But he said he like homemade better

So...Homemade dough

Homemade pizza sauce

and grated Mozzarella instead of pre-shredded and frozen.

I like to prebake the dough a tad first, then add the sauce and cheese

Not Trash

I save my butter wrappers.

If I do not use them right away, I put them in the freezer.

Here I am using them to butter my loaf pans.

Homemade really is cheaper

A repeat post, but worth repeating.

Granola is cheaper to make than to buy and my boys love it.

It also makes a great gift.

Homemade sandwich bread, super simple to make.

Useful frugal hobby

On a trip with my Husband.

I brought yarn to keep me busy on the plane.  Was planning on making socks.

But made this instead.  I didn't want to carry a large purse the whole time.

So this is perfect size for my phone, a chapstick, credit card and cash!

Yarn was a Christmas gift

Fix it and forget it

 My vacuum is old

Like 28 to 30 years old

This is the second time I have fixed it.

First time was fried wire in motor.  0.00 dollars to fix, stripped wires, reconnected.

This time the belt broke. Easy fix and way cheaper than getting a new one. 8.00 dollars

Frugal Thought

 Flowers are expensive

Even with a coupon code, ordering flowers can be 50 to 65 for something small

So I ordered flowers for an out of town relative.  I ordered from their local grocery store and had Instacart deliver.  Twice as many flowers at half the cost, including the delivery.

Cheap Hobby (sorry not free)

Thank my Mom for this hobby/activity

Pressed Pennies

So now wherever we go, we look for a Pressed Penny Machine to get 2 pennies, one for my son and one for him to send to Grandma.

Usual cost $1.01 each  4 quarters and a penny

Souvenir from a trip you can share and cost 1.01

Leftovers

Planned leftovers are a good thing.

Unplanned even better.

1/4 of chicken breast from dinner, became chicken salad for lunch
